In the RSE at the RPV "National Center of Expertise" of the KSEK Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in April-May 2023, 3,200 studies were carried out for tick-borne encephalitis, of which 30 were infected.

During studies conducted in the regions of Kazakhstan, positive results were registered in the East Kazakhstan region (76.6%), Almaty (13.3%), and in Kostanay (3.3%), Zhetysu regions (3.3 %).

Research is carried out in laboratories of particularly dangerous infections using genetic and enzyme-linked immunosorbent methods aimed at identifying RNA and antibodies/antigens of the tick-borne encephalitis virus.

Experts note that the peak of tick activity occurs in April-May and August-September.

Let us remind you that tick-borne encephalitis is a viral natural focal acute infectious disease. The disease develops after a tick bites. In the human body, the virus penetrates the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord), where it multiplies. The incubation period for tick-borne encephalitis ranges from 14 to 30 days.
