The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the World Health Organization, with the support of the World Bank, held a presentation of the Pandemic Fund project in Kazakhstan.
The main goal of the project is to improve the country's capacity and strengthen its readiness to respond to possible pandemics in the future.
In 2023, the Pandemic Fund's Board of Governors approved grants aimed at building resilience to future pandemics in 36 countries, including Kazakhstan.
The fund's grant will help solve a number of critical problems in the healthcare system of Kazakhstan, especially in the field of epidemiological surveillance, laboratory safety, early detection and response, and training.
The National Center of Expertise, as part of the country application, along with other medical organizations, was included in this project.
The project is planned for 2024 -2026. In order to improve the mechanism for sending samples and the system for transporting biospecimens, it is planned to purchase specialized vehicles with GPS navigation and laboratory equipment to equip regional and city branches of the NCE.
In addition, to strengthen the human resources potential of the laboratory service, within the framework of the grant, training is planned at an international center that meets international criteria specialized for laboratory practice.
