NCE continues to modernize laboratories

A working group of experts, as part of the implementation of a grant from the Pandemic Fund, visited district and city branches of the branches of the National Center of Expertise located in Akmola and Turkestan regions.

The group included Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Z. Akhmetova, Head of the Development Department of Subordinate Organizations of the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan S. Mukazhanova, Chairman of the Board of the National Center of Expertise E. Kiyasov, Specialist of the Department of Strategic Development and International Cooperation of the NCE M. Kairakbaeva, as well as national coordinator of the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in Kazakhstan B. Aubakirova and consultant of the WHO Country Office in Kazakhstan A. Gil.

The working trip to the regions began with a visit to the district offices of the Akmola region. The group got acquainted with the current scope of work of the laboratories of the Akkol, Bulandinsky, Zerendinsky districts and the Stepnogorsk city branch.

Also, to determine the effectiveness and need for updating equipment and the possibility of improving processes in laboratories, group members familiarized themselves with the technical equipment and resources for conducting research.

Next, members of the visiting team visited the branches of the NCE branch in the Turkestan region, where the newly updated laboratory in the city of Kentau was put into operation.

In addition, the Ordabasy district office was visited, where the need for modernization was also assessed. Afterwards, the group got acquainted with the work of the branch of the city of Turkestan, where the construction of a modern virology laboratory is planned in the near future.

The main purpose of these trips was to assess the activities of the Company’s branches to further understand the potential and readiness to respond to possible pandemics in the future.

Let us recall that on February 15, 2024, in Astana, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the World Health Organization officially launched the Pandemic Fund project in Kazakhstan with the support of the World Bank.
