In Kazakhstan, every year from October to April there is a season of acute respiratory viral infections and influenza. During the analyzed period, the National Center of Expertise examined 29,324 samples from patients diagnosed with ARVI and influenza using the PCR method.

The proportion of positive influenza cases was 7.71%, with the main share accounting for non-influenza viruses - 49.8%, influenza A virus - 48.9% and influenza B virus - 1%. The largest number of positive samples were detected in branches in Astana (220 samples), Almaty (232 samples), Kyzylorda (336 samples) and East Kazakhstan (155 samples) regions.

In addition to the influenza virus, the circulation of other non-influenza viruses has also been established. Diagnosis of respiratory diseases of non-influenza etiology showed that of the total number of cases studied, 2,650 cases were identified, the proportion was 16.1%.

Virologists report that even after the end of the epidemic season, research in laboratories continues.
