In preparation for the swimming season for 6 months of 2024, specialists from the laboratories of the National Center of Expertise, commissioned by the state, conducted a wide range of studies of the water quality of open reservoirs and swimming pools.
The total number of pool water samples examined was 84, and 1,269 studies were performed. As a result of the analysis, 27 water samples exceeded the standards.
Among the identified excesses, the most common were the content of residual chlorine and organoleptic indicators. Problems were also identified with general hardness, sulfate and nitrate content in the water. Equally important is the detected presence of various microbes in some samples, which may pose potential risks to human health.
In addition, the laboratories carried out an analysis of water from reservoirs intended for cultural and domestic water use, during which 3,836 samples were examined, of which 476 samples (12.4%) showed “positive” results.
These data reflect problems with general mineralization, hardness, content of chlorides, ammonia nitrogen, suspended solids, as well as the presence of bacteriological contamination of water in open reservoirs.
