Public health emergency response exercises were held at the international airports of Astana and Almaty. They centered on the work of the laboratory and disinfection service of the NCE, which plays a key role in identifying and preventing the spread of particularly dangerous infections.

The drills practiced well-coordinated interaction of all airport services: sanitary-epidemiological, border, customs, as well as airport services, line police department, airport medical station, ambulance and medical organizations.

Special attention was paid to coordination of actions in case of detection of passengers with suspected monkeypox.

In the course of the exercise a “conditional patient” was involved, the personnel went through the whole cycle of activities from identification of symptoms to hospitalization and carrying out the necessary anti-epidemic and disinfection measures.

The results of the exercise confirmed the high readiness of all services to respond to possible threats.

At the seminar-meeting held following the exercise, the actions of each service were discussed and recommendations were given to strengthen interagency cooperation.
