As part of an off-site board meeting of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan held in the city of Shymkent, the Directorate of the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan convened under the chairmanship of First Vice Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Timur Sultangaziyev. The meeting was attended by the heads of regional departments, subordinate organizations, and representatives of the National Center of Expertise.
Chairman of the Management Board of the National Center of Expertise, Yerlan Kiyasov, delivered a detailed report on the activities of the laboratories. The report covered statistics on sanitary and epidemiological monitoring and expertise, the pace of laboratory modernization, the effectiveness of regional and national management, and current operational challenges.
"Every figure in this report is more than just a statistic — it is the result of our specialists’ daily efforts. Behind these indicators lies the tremendous work of the entire system," emphasized Yerlan Kiyasov, Chairman of the Management Board of the NCE.
Among the top priorities are the modernization of the laboratory network and the strengthening of the material and technical infrastructure. Since 2023, over 2,000 units of modern laboratory equipment have been procured. Construction has been completed on new facilities, including a laboratory building in the village of Kordai in the Zhambyl Region and an extension to the bacteriological laboratory in the North Kazakhstan Region. Gasification projects were implemented at facilities in the Kyzylorda and Kostanay Regions. Additionally, 29 units of specialized vehicles were acquired.
"Strengthening infrastructure means, first and foremost, improving the working conditions of our specialists. We are not merely upgrading equipment — we are transforming our approach to safety and quality control," noted Yerlan Kiyasov.
The NCE is actively advancing its scientific endeavors. A Scientific Council has been established within the organization, and the scientific and practical journal Bulletin of the National Center of Expertise has been officially registered. Work is underway to obtain an international ISSN index, which will enhance the journal’s academic value and scientific credibility.
The NCE continues to strengthen its international partnerships. New memorandums of cooperation are being signed, including agreements with universities and foreign partners. The NCE serves as a base for the national representation of Codex Alimentarius, INFOSAN, RASFF, and the GMO Platform, and also collaborates with UN agencies, including WHO and FAO.
The NCE is confidently advancing along the path of development, modernization, and scientific progress, consistently delivering results and upholding high standards of quality in the field of sanitary and epidemiological control and expertise.
