On November 28, the international scientific and practical conference "Innovative Technologies for Managing the Health of the Working Population: Multidisciplinary Approaches" was held in Karaganda. It served as a key platform for discussing modern approaches to preventing occupational risks and developing laboratory diagnostics.
Representing the National Center for Expertise, Ainagul Musina, First Deputy Chairperson of the Board, presented a report on the development of laboratory diagnostics for harmful occupational factors.
"As part of state sanitary and epidemiological surveillance, laboratory monitoring of air pollution levels, workplace air pollution, and other indicators is conducted during various inspections. Furthermore, sanitary regulations require employers to conduct industrial monitoring through accredited laboratories, which contributes to improved working safety," said Ainagul Musina.
Conference participants noted that the problem of occupational diseases remains pressing in Kazakhstan and raises concern that many workers continue to work in hazardous conditions. The most common risk factors remain industrial dust, chemicals, noise, vibration, and an unfavorable microclimate.
In turn, the NCE conducts laboratory monitoring of atmospheric air, workplace air, and other parameters as part of state sanitary and epidemiological control and industrial control.
The NCE places particular emphasis on compliance with international standards. Its laboratories are accredited according to GOST ISO/IEC 17025-2019, ST RK ISO 15189-2023, and ST RK ISO 9001. One of the NCE branches is additionally accredited according to ISO/IEC 17043-2013, which allows it to conduct proficiency testing for other laboratories.
Improving its material and technical resources, human resources, and methodological support remains one of the NCE's top priorities. Implementing these objectives will ensure stable sanitary and epidemiological security, improve risk response, and ensure the availability of high-quality laboratory services throughout the country.
Thus, the NCE confirms its key role in ensuring occupational safety and strengthening the sanitary and epidemiological surveillance system, making a significant contribution to protecting the health of Kazakhstan's working population.
