According to Zhanara’s words, she did not even suspect that a rat could bite her. The woman has been renting an apartment in Almaty for a long time, but she faces this problem for the first time.

"I know that rats can gnaw their limbs at night. Thank God that I was still awake that day. The rat climbed onto my bed. And suddenly I felt that something had bitten me, it turned out that it was a rat. Immediately I went to the ambulance. They gave me an injection and received treatment. I take injections to this day," the woman admits.

Due to the fact that the number of cases affected by rat bites has increased in the city, since September 25, 2017, the activities of the second autumn round on solid deratization (destruction of rodents) have begun in Almaty to prevent the spread of zoonotic infections (infectious diseases that are transmitted to humans from animals - Ed.) and especially dangerous infectious diseases among the population of the city.

The processing will be carried out by the forces and resources of the RSE branch at the REM "Center for disinfection in the city of Almaty".

The events will be held until October 26 this year. To cover the processing of the city's territory, eight mobile deratization teams were organized in the number of 60 people, led by epidemiologists. Deratization is carried out with the use of grain baits with poison (rodenticide) and the drug "Bromadialon" allowed for use in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
